Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Axle SnapShot (“SnapShot”, “the app”) is a product of Axle Foundation LLC (“Axle”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through Axle SnapShot and the website at axlesnapshot.com (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. The short version

• Your screenshots stay on your device unless you choose to upload or share them.

• Your AI provider key (for example, your Claude/Anthropic key) is stored locally in your device’s secure keychain and sent directly from your device to that provider. We never receive it.

• Voice dictation is processed on your device. We do not receive your audio.

• We collect the minimum needed to run your account, billing, and the optional cloud features.

3. Information we collect

Account information — the email address you sign in with (and, for Axle members, a mobile number and/or work PIN). Any password is handled by our authentication provider and stored in hashed form; we do not see your plaintext password.
Subscription & billing — payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and limited billing metadata (such as plan and renewal date). We do not store your full card number; Stripe does, under its own terms.
Referral codes — if you take part in referrals.
Cloud snap library (optional) — if you enable the cloud library or the Claude connector, screenshots you choose to sync are stored in our cloud storage in a private area tied to your account. Other customers cannot access them.
Shared links (optional) — if you use “Copy Link”, that screenshot is uploaded to create a shareable link.
Diagnostic & technical data — when the app checks for updates or contacts our servers, our hosting provider may log standard technical information such as IP address, timestamp, and request details for security and reliability.

4. Information we do NOT collect

The contents of your screenshots, unless you upload or share them as described above.
Your AI provider API key. It is stored locally in your operating system’s keychain and transmitted directly from your device to your chosen AI provider.
Your dictation audio. Speech-to-text runs on your device.

5. AI features and your AI provider

When you use AI Summarize or send notes or images to an AI assistant, that content is sent from your device to the AI provider you connected (for example, Anthropic) using your own account and key. That processing is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy, not ours. We are not a party to, and do not receive, that content.

6. How we use information

To provide and maintain the Service; process subscriptions and billing; provide support; secure the Service and prevent abuse; comply with law; and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Sharing and sub-processors

We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service, including Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and cloud storage), and our authentication provider. Each processes data on our behalf or under its own terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and our users.

8. Data retention

We keep account and subscription data while your account is active and as needed for legal, accounting, and security purposes. Cloud-synced screenshots are retained until you delete them or close your account. Technical logs are retained for a limited period.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure secret storage (your AI key in your OS keychain; our secrets in protected stores), and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA). You can manage or cancel your subscription in the app. To exercise other rights, contact us at the email below; we will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. International users

We are based in North America and may process and store information in the United States, Canada, and other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.

12. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

13. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. We will communicate material changes where appropriate.
